The scenery is breathtaking, the food divine, and the different wine selections are wonderful. The boutique wineries of the beautiful Anderson Valley are a short drive of 18 miles away. This peaceful valley is home to a unique group of wineries that produce a broad range of excellent wines - Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, White Riesling, and Gewurztraminer. You'll also find Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Visit tasting rooms that range from a picnic table at a backyard winery to a beautiful salon at a sleek, modern facility.

Here are some our favorite wineries:

greenwood ridge vineyards

5501 Highway 128
Philo, California 95466
(707) 895-2002

Greenwood Ridge has a reputation for producing award-wining wines. This 95-year old vineyard has been named one of America's top 30 wineries by Wine & Spirits Magazine three times, and won the Best of Show at major competitions. Its vineyards on Greenwood Ridge and in the Anderson Valley contribute enormous character and style, and the region's soils, sun exposure and maritime-influenced climate combine to lend extraordinary richness and classic varietal style. The tasting room is large and modern, with plenty of parking and a scenic picnic area overlooking the Valley's golden hued hills in spring, summer and fall. Be sure to try their Pinot Noir.

husch vineyards

4400 Highway 128
Philo, CA 95466
y (800) 55-HUSCH

Small, friendly, family-owned and operated by 3 generations, Husch Vineyards is the oldest winery in the Anderson Valley appellation. The winery features 18 different wines of which 6 are distributed across the country. The charming tasting room is a converted pony barn that dates back to the late 1800's. There, you can purchase small lots of special wines that aren't otherwise available. Don't miss an opportunity to picnic on the deck. Their Pinot Noir is wonderful. Be sure to taste the Cab, and Chardonnay. The Elk Cove Inn & Spa features Husch's Chenin Blanc splits in our Welcome Baskets, and feature their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet in our wine list at 'ZEBO.

Handley Cellars

151 Highway 128
Philo, CA 95466
707 895-3876

Another family-owned winery, Handley Cellars was bonded in 1982. Winemaker Milla Handley produces nicely balanced wines with distinctive varietal characteristics that reflect the local soil and climate. The winery offers tours by appointment. The beautiful courtyard is open to the public for picnics. You'll find Handley's Gewurztraminer on our wine list at 'ZEBO.

Roederer Estate

4501 Highway 128
Philo, CA 95466
(707) 895-2288

The Roederer family, from the Champagne region of France, has a long and distinguished wine-making history. Their French winery was founded in 1776, and is one of the few independent champagne houses that is still family-owned. The family came to California to see if they could find the ideal growing conditions here, for the chardonnay and pinot noir grapes that go into their top champagnes. By 1981 they had located the 580-acre property in the Anderson Valley that is now their home. The estate has a rustic redwood look, blending into a hillside, overlooking terraces of vines. Inside, you'll find old French prints on the walls, French tiles underfoot and a long French zinc bar where the tastings are hosted. There's a French-style indoor/outdoor bistro with tables too. The Roederer Estate foc
uses on just four types of wine, all sparkling whites or roses, and these can be sampled in the Tasting Room which is open every day from 11am to 5pm. We feature Roederer Brut at 'ZEBO.

Navarro Vineyards

5601 Hwy 128
Philo, CA 95466
(800) 537-WINE

The family has been growing grapes, making wine and producing non-alcoholic grape juices in the Anderson Valley since 1974. You probably won't find their wine in your local store. The majority of their production is sold directly. The Navarro winery offers tours daily at 10:30 a.m. Tours last about an hour and are limited to only 15 people. Reservations are recommended. The tasting room is located adjacent to the Greenwood Ridge facility, and offers wonderful picnicking opportunities. They offer cheeses and meats onsite or guests can bring their own.

We are located 150 miles North of San Francisco and 15 miles south of the village of Mendocino.
