News from the Spa |
Self-care is an important skill to develop in this modern, fast-paced world. Many of us are so busy taking care of business, the kids, or our spouse, that we frequently forget our own needs. When you visit the Elk Cove Inn & Spa, you're coming to a magical place that offers you the opportunity to slow down, relax, and take the time to nurture yourself. The natural beauty here is awe-inspiring. Please plan to explore our cove, walk on the beach, listen to the song of the ocean, and watch the magnificent sunsets. Take a nap. Enjoy reading that book you've been wanting to start, or finish. Come to our intimate spa where you'll be treated to some well deserved TLC. Our most popular package for couples is
The Renewal. First, you'll enjoy a tandem massage. After that, experience our private aromatherapy steam shower and sauna. And then complete your relaxation in our ocean view Spa lobby with refreshments. You'll emerge relaxed, refreshed, and ready to enjoy the rest of your time here together. Here's what just a few of our transformed guests have recorded in our guest book:
"Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! What a treat. An excellent massage."
"Thank you for your gift of touch. Just what we needed to start our stay."
"This is just the perfect way to enjoy my birthday. Thanks for the warm and healing hands."
"We enjoyed our tandem massages very much! How romantic and relaxing. Just what we needed!

| And we're doing it in style. The whole town will be decorated. Roving carolers, happy little elves and miniature horse-drawn carts will take you from inn to inn, where your hosts and live music will be there to entertain you inside. Tickets - $15 per person are available at any of the participating inns. Proceeds benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mendocino County and Mendocino County Unified School Enrichment Foundation. |

Should we reopen our restaurant?
Help us decide
It seems hardly a day goes by without an arriving guest asking, "Do we have to drive, to get something to eat?" Some of you may remember that the inn also ran as a restaurant some years ago. And hopefully any of you who've joined us for an event, a custom Candlelight Dinner or a Winemaker Dinner will attest to our cooking skills. Do we need to mention breakfast?
So we're wondering… should we reopen the restaurant? And who better to ask than our guests.
Here's the deal - if you'll take a minute to send us an e-mail with your answers to the following questions, we'll send you a coupon good for $10 off in the restaurant… if we open. We'll make our decision by November 1, 2003 and if it's positive, we'll open immediately.
-
If you were visiting for at least 2 nights, how many nights would you prefer to eat here at the inn?
-
Are there specific nights, like Saturday, that you'd prefer to go out for "fine dining?"
-
What kind of food would you prefer that we serve?
-
Casual - soup & salad, pizza, sandwiches, …
-
Comfort - hearty stews, casseroles, pot pies, meatloaf, …
-
Gourmet - French, Asian and American specialties
-
How much would you expect to pay, per person for your complete meal?

“Ode to the Elk Cove Inn”
- September,2003
|
|
Planning the wedding was more than we bargained,
It took 15 years off my life,
The planning, the thinking and (later) the drinking,
Made me more of a dolt than a wife.
I needed “renewal” and needed it bad,
As sure as my name is Kim,
I needed to leave my cell phone behind,
And just enjoy being with “Him.”
The bed, the breakfast, the oatmeal cookies,
And the port were truly the best,
We came, we saw, we conquered the cove,
And now dream of moving out West.
|
Yet the day went off without a hitch, The food, the music, even the sunshine & bloom, But it still wasn’t enough — not nearly enough, To make me less of a clod and more of a Groom.
Elkward we came wayward and seeking respite, And found L.E. White reserved for me, Phil Soon we discovered Nirvana packaged and sold, Three days that no doubt fit the
bill.
The tub, the fire, the espresso machine, And lest we forget, the view, ’Twas not just the hours at the Elk Cove Inn Spa, But all that made us anew. |
